Hoshino Resorts provides various activities for you to experience culture, industries, and local live. The beautiful scenery of agriculture heals the travelers, and the farm products enrich the journey. These inspire us to launch “Farm Hoshino”, and we are planning to hold it throughout the country. As the first step, we started at Hoshino Resorts Tomamu. The land of Hoshino Resorts Tomamu was an agricultural area with about 700 cattle before it was developed into a resort. At “Farm Hoshino”, we bring this area back to its beautiful original scenery of that time and work on production activities that produce fresh and delicious food. The landscape where animals grazing on a vast land leisurely, beautiful arranged land, and the rich food from the fields, are experiences unique to Hokkaido. Enjoy the farm stay and farm products in the rich and wide Hokkaido scenery.
We are currently farming on the area about 100 hectares at Hoshino Resorts Tomamu. Surrounded by lush Tomamu mountains and forests, cows, sheep, goats and horses graze. We also grow grass to feed animals. The cultivated fields and cylindrical grass rolls are dotted on the land and form the unique Hokkaido nature landscape.
In Farm Hoshino, we began to raise five “Holstein” cows in June 2018. From spring to autumn, they are grazed with sufficient grass instead of captived. The cool climate of Tomamu is suitable for heat-sensitive dairy cows and the vast area make dairy cow can live freely without getting stress. Natural living would produce delicious products.
In August 2018, we started to produce milk. For you to enjoy the original taste of milk, we have adopted the “pasteurization” and “non-homogenization” that does not equalize milk fat contained in milk. From spring to autumn, cows eat green grass, and their milk tastes strongly sweet and the aftertaste is refreshing. A cow could produce approximately 30 liters milk in maximum per day. The milk is served at the buffet restaurant and café in Hoshino Resorts Tomamu. In addition, it is also sold at “Milk Stand” in the farm area. We offer soft serve ice cream made from this milk since April 2019, and we are planning to make butter in the future.
Before it was developed into a resort, Tomamu was an agricultural area with about 700 cattle. As we would also like our visitors to enjoy the original beauty of this land, our resort is operating a Farm Area of about 100 hectares.
